{Wedding Theme Finder}

As a planner the one thing I push heavy from the beginning is for my couple to create a consistent theme to their event. Of course we start with colors and then we help them decide their personality and pull it together with all of their details. Some times this can be a task in itself, but once we figure out a vision, it’s an exciting adventure thereafter.

iVillage has this great tool called the “Theme Finder” where you can browse suggestions for fabulous gowns, stationery, cakes, bouquets, favors and accessories that will perfectly tie in all the details together. Click on the picture below and check it out! Thanks iVillage! 🙂 Awesome tool!!

{{Congratulations}} Kimberly and Clinton

Posted on March 10, 2008. Filed under: Centerpiece and Decor, Ceremony, Flowers, Reception, TEE Weddings, Wardrobe and Gowns |

We were so honored to have spent the last year working with Valerie (Mother of the Bride), Kimberly and Clinton to create an absolutely unforgettable day for them on February 17th, 2008. I enjoyed spending every minute with their incredibly warm family and friends. The girls in Kim’s bridal party were so fun and so inviting. And the guys were very accommodating as well. I have to say, this event rocked the house. The guests danced the night away from the moment the gospel group introduced the bride and groom until the sparkler send off had them on their way. The energy was contagious throughout the night!

Congratulations goes out to Kim and Clint. We wish you nothing but happiness, love, and a successful marriage!
P.S. The pazookies were delicious!!

Keep guests cool at your outdoor wedding with gorgeous adorned parasols from this specialized site. Order a few dozen simple rice-paper parasols for your crowd (starting at $6.50 each for a large order), or choose a more luxe hand-beaded, monogrammed or marabou-trimmed one for your self. (Modern Bride, pg 174)

Idea: Instead of having bridesmaid carry flowers, parasols would be an adorable way to make a statement and bring in a unique element to your beautiful day. You can even attach a few stunning flowers to the parasol or the handles to give it an added flair.

{Flowers in Season}

Posted on January 15, 2008. Filed under: Centerpiece and Decor, Ceremony, Flowers, Reception |

I found this great little reference about “Flowers In Season” by www.ScarletPetal.com

Many of our brides come to us with the question, “What flowers are in season near my wedding date?” This is a great question, but exactly what is meant by “in season”? Generally, it means that florists are able to acquire these flowers more readily and at lower prices.

flowers
Today, very few flowers make themselves entirely unavailable for a portion of the year. The fact that we can import flowers from around the globe enables us to provide the bride and groom with just about anything at anytime. However, occassionally some in season flowers are only available during their time of year.

With that in mind, you are always safe in choosing flowers that are in season at the time of your special event. Please refer to our list below for names of seasonal flowers. Please keep in mind that because flowers are part of nature, florists often have to depend on nature’s cooperation. Instances such as brush fires in California or monsoons in Thailand will affect our resources.

Makin a List – Checkin it Twice

Posted on November 20, 2007. Filed under: Accessories, Centerpiece and Decor, Flowers |

With Thanksgiving, comes “black Friday.” A day when us crazy shoppers wake up at the oddest hours, grab a huge cup of coffee, and head out for some amazing sales at the wee hours of the mornings. My husband thinks it’s absolutely crazy, but I don’t exactly see him complaining on Christmas morning when he’s opening up some “totally awesome” gifts! Yes, as a marketing person, I know most of the sale items are just gimmicks, but I just can’t help going out. Even if it’s just to people watch!

One thing I do know, I love to shop online for gifts as well, and the Red Envelope has some fantastic items that can be personalized! Its a great site for bridesmaids and groomsmen gifts as well. They even have some cool event decor — sorry, I’m a centerpiece and decor freak 🙂 I can’t help it!

Build Your Own Candleholder

Posted on November 16, 2007. Filed under: Centerpiece and Decor, Crafts, Flowers, Reception |

I was out surfing around today for some fun ideas to add to my Thanksgiving buffet table decor. Of course, being a planner and designer, everyone expects the tip top in my creativity, so every year I’m searching for bigger and bettter or something that will completely catch my family off guard. This year, I came across these neat little “Build your own candleholders” on www.GIDesigns.com that I thought could be really fun. I love the artichoke and some gords, but I thought this could be a great idea to build with pomander balls in the middle.

Four Reasons Men Need Flowers

Four Reasons Men Need Flowers

Women and flowers never get boring. But what’s something you can give men year after year that they won’t tire of? They have enough ties, enough tool sets, and enough funny cards; what’s really going to make them feel special this year? A dozen roses will!!

Picture 1

Male readers are gawking. A dozen roses will not make me feel special, they say—they think, but the truth is men need flowers for four most important reasons. So do something different this year: send the MEN some flowers—at the office. Everyone will be talking about it.

Flower Guru Bill Gross spends every day in the midst of hundreds of flowers, and from both personal experience and research has compiled four important reasons why men need flowers:

1. It’s been scientifically proven that the presence of flowers relieves stress because its aroma has a calming effect. How many men do you know that have stress-free jobs?

2. The presence of flowers in the office helps employees, clients—anyone—to be more open, intimate and honest in the workplace. Gross says these are ingredients for a successful business, and he knows.

3. A Texas A&M University study links flowers to increased productivity in the workplace. Cha-ching! Men want and need to be successful to boost their male egos.

4. A Rutgers Behavioral Study concludes that flowers trigger happy emotions, life satisfaction and improve social behavior. The fathers and men in your life will be better friends, husbands, and dads with a flower boost.

Gross, owner of Flowers to Go, has brought thousands of flowers to the people of western Washington. He’s changed the floral industry into affordability and convenience. He started with a flower bucket on the streets of Bremerton 25 years ago and from there started transforming old burger joints into drive-through flower shops. He now owns and runs the most flower shops in the state.

Modern Glass Flowers

Posted on November 8, 2007. Filed under: Centerpiece and Decor, Ceremony, Flowers, Reception |

As you can probably tell, I’m always looking for creative decor or craft ideas for events. Well, this week I was out surfing the net for unique centerpiece concepts to show some of my brides that you don’t always have to use real flowers as centerpieces. I love to think outside of the box, but I always recommend real flowers for the bride to carry unless she’s completly eclectic! So I ran across this beautiful modern glass art called “Jade Glass”. Wouldn’t this make such a modern centerpiece? You can even purchase the flowers alone, which would be absolutely adorable on a napkin on a charger with a little paper petal used as a seating assignment. The really tall ones would be absolutely stunning for a ceremony site. I can just see the sun or candles reflecting off the glass. Simply gorgeous! And the best part is your guests could take them home!

One of the most exciting features of these glass flowers is the ability to customize each piece to your liking. Each stem is threaded and the glass flower screws onto each stem via a short screw which is attached to the back of the glass flower. This enables you to build your own designs from our selection of over 30 different glass colors as well as very safe and trouble free shipping.

Whirly Hanging Candleholder

Posted on September 18, 2007. Filed under: Centerpiece and Decor, Flowers, Reception |

A bride in New York brought these little “whirly hanging candleholders” to my attention today when she mentioned that she would like to hang tons of these at her wedding reception. What an awesome idea!! We couldn’t stop emailing back and forth (of course it’s mainly my fault because I have so many creative ideas we could do with these.)

I just think these are so beautiful for any event with candles or flowers. Check them out at www.C2B.com
